Policy, Strategy and Resources in Education (30CATS) - IE904

Policy, Strategy and Resources in Education is a core module for students on the dissertation route.  This module opens with an introduction to ideas concerning rational choice and public choice theory. It goes on to consider the finance and economics of education systems, and includes case studies of site-based management, autonomous institutions and marketisation of education.  Other issues of contemporary leadership roles are covered including management and control of budgets and cost-effectiveness; resource management and allocation of budgets, managing premises and learning resources, and managing time. This module incorporates international and comparative dimensions.
